Don’t make these mistakes while installing your French doors

Double glazed French doors have become very popular with homeowners in UK, as a replacement for the traditional wooden and timber doors. Providing efficient heat insulation while allowing the sunlight in, French doors are being installed by a lot of people. However, everyone is not happy having done so. Why?

One of the important considerations with the French doors is the amount of space that the open doors can take. If you want to leave the doors open and the doors open inside, these can take space where you would have placed other furniture. So you should make the doors open outside or consider sliding patio doors.

The French doors have to be installed by experienced people or you may face misalignment problems allowing droughts and ventilation problems.

Several dealers claim that they design their doors with tough glass without actually doing so. This causes problems with security as well as risk of shattered and sharp glass pieces if they get hit by a football or something. You must make sure that the dealer uses good quality tough glass and complies with the regulations of FENSA and GGF.

Buying from unproven sources may appear to be cheaper initially but the lack of reliability and good after-sales service can cause serious problems later on. So insist on buying your French doors from reputed vendors only. You must make sure the dealer quotes delivery dates that he can stick to, or else you will be inconvenienced later on.

French doors may require a hefty investment, so you must enquire about the finance options before you finalise the order, if you do not want to make down payment for the full amount.

If you are careful about these considerations and discuss these with the dealer when you get a FREE quote for your French doors, you will enjoy a nice view coupled with strong security and peace of mind.
